Mill levy on November 8 ballot to reopen Paulding County jail

In the nearly eight years since the Paulding County Jail closed, the county has paid more than $2 million to house prisoners elsewhere. Paulding County Sheriff Jason Landers hopes the county’s voters decide enough is enough and bring those funds back to the county by reopening the jail. The Crescent News reports voters will see a 1.35-mill, five year additional levy on the Nov. 8 ballot for operation of the county jail. The levy will generate $613,350 annually and cost the owner of a home valued at $100,000, approximately $47.25 a year. Landers said now is the time to reopen the jail.
