Montpelier man injured following a Saturday afternoon crash

A Montpelier man sustained injuries following a Saturday afternoon crash around 1 p.m. Deputies from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of County Road 200 North west of County Road 950 East Saturday afternoon for a vehicle into a tree on fire. Deputies arrived and found the driver of the vehicle, 22 year old Tyler J. Worstell of Montpelier, OH, laying outside the vehicle with possible internal and head injuries. Tyler was flown to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment by Samaritan Helicopter. Authorities say Tyler was eastbound on County Road 200 North and lost control of his 1991 Chevrolet truck on a hill crest causing him to drive off the south side of the roadway where he struck a large tree. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says it appeared as though Tyler was able to exit the truck before the truck caught on fire. Speed is believed to be a factor and Tyler was wearing his seatbelt.
