Residents in Montpelier may notice some discoloration in their water as the Montpelier Water Department will begin their annual fire hydrant flushing and flow-testing program. The Village says that even though the water is discolored, it is still safe to drink. They say double-check the water before using an automatic washer, as it could stain light colored clothing. Water in the mains should return to normal within about 30 minutes after the crew leaves an area. Any stained water in a private plumbing system can be cleared out by letting the tap run for a short time.
