MORE JOBS FOR AUBURN

A scrap metal recy­cling com­pany announced plans Tues­day to open a new facil­ity in Auburn.

Met­alX LLC says the new plant will cre­ate as many as 80 new jobs by 2017.

The com­pany, which is based in Water­loo, says it will spend $12.4 mil­lion to buy, ren­o­vate and equip a 240,000 square-foot indus­trial build­ing at 1101 Oren Drive, on a 30-acre site with main line rail access. The com­pany expects to have the plant fully oper­a­tional by Sep­tem­ber.

Met­alX cur­rently employs more than 100 peo­ple in Indi­ana, and plans to begin hir­ing for the Auburn facil­ity next month.
