Motorcycle accident sends two to area hospitals with injuries

A motorcyclist and his passenger were injured Tuesday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash near here. According to the Defiance post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, at 2:16 p.m., a trike motorcycle ridden by 70 year old James Benien of Toledo, was eastbound on Flory Road, west of the Defiance-Henry County Line. The vehicle left the roadway, struck a ditch and came to rest in a field. Benien was taken by South Richland EMS to Mercy Defiance Hospital, while his passenger, 66 year old Brenda Russell of Adrian, Michigan was taken by air ambulance to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo. Their conditions are not known at this time.
