Myrtle Irene (Rowe) Lutterbein, age 92, of Otterbein Northshore at Lakeside, Ohio, and formerly a longtime resident of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 7:55 P.M. on Monday, January 19, 2015, in her home. Mrs. Lutterbein was a graduate of The Ohio State University and taught 2nd grade in the Edgerton Local Schools for many years until her retirement, serving as an amazing role model to the hundreds of children who passed through her class throughout the years. Myrtle was a Christian serving God in her home church, the Edgerton United Methodist Church, and in life and was a woman who lived with grace and dignity through all of life’s ups and downs.
Myrtle Irene Lutterbein was born on November 7, 1922, in Van Wert County, Ohio, the daughter of Floyd and Mary Ella (Spellbring) Rowe. She married her husband of sixty years, John William Lutterbein, on February 1, 1948, in Edgerton and he preceded her in death on September 15, 2008.
A loving and supportive wife, she was mother and an amazing role model to their four children, Carol (Craig) Johnson, Ruth Fischer, William (Diana) Lutterbein and Alice (Gary) Young; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and is also survived by her brother, Frank (Beverly) Rowe. She was also preceded in death by one grandson and her sister, Mary Lois Costa.
Services celebrating the life of Myrtle Irene (Rowe) Lutterbein will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2015, at 2:00 P.M. in the Edgerton United Methodist Church with Reverend R.L. Barnett officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 24, 2015, in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton.
