The city of Napoleon will be saying goodbye to their current City Manager, Monica Irelan. She has submitted her resignation to take a job in a northeast Ohio community. Irelan, who was appointed city manager in Napoleon in March 2014, informed city council in a letter of resignation submitted Friday to Napoleon City Council President Travis Sheaffer. Council’s personnel committee will convene a search for a new city manager immediately. A 21-day advertisement period will follow, according to Sheaffer, after which council will vote to approve a selected candidate. Sheaffer hopes to have a new manager on b oard by Thanksgiving. Before her resignation, Irelan had faced some opposition from Napoleon City Council, which narrowly voted in June, 4-3, to retain her.
