NEW BANK FOR CONTINENTAL??

There could be some money com­ing to one area vil­lage… lit­er­ally!

Con­ti­nen­tal Vil­lage Coun­cil on Tues­day night learned of the pos­si­bil­ity of a new bank open­ing up shop in town.

An offi­cial at the Fort Jen­nings State Bank says the bank is seri­ously con­sid­er­ing open­ing up a new branch bank in Con­ti­nen­tal. They plan a meet­ing soon to dis­cuss it and lay out the plans.

Mean­while, Hunt­ing­ton Bank has decided not to accept water bill pay­ments from res­i­dents of Con­ti­nen­tal any­more, even though the bank charged a fee for doing so. Vil­lage offi­cials say they are upset by that deci­sion and feel that the vil­lage isn’t being served well by the bank in other mat­ters as well.

In the mean­time, res­i­dents can mail their water bill pay­ments to the post office box num­ber now listed on the water bill.
