New fire levy to be on November ballot

The Hicksville Village Council passed an ordinance to implement a new fire levy, which will provide for fire protection services in town and last five years. The levy will be for 2 mills (or 20 cents for each hundred dollars of valuation.) and will be used for providing and maintaining equipment, water supply materials, or the payment of firefighters to operate fire equipment. If passed, the levy will begin next year. The Defiance County Board of Elections now must submit the levy to general election ballots on Nov. 1.
