The new Independence Road overpass atop U.S. 24 in Defiance County was to open last weekend while some nearby traffic changes are to follow this week. The structure will allow traffic to cross over U.S. 24, but will provide no access to the four-lane highway. A couple of related changes at nearby intersections were scheduled to begin Monday. Both Jewell and Flory roads, located to the west and east of the overpass, respectively, will become right-in and right-out only.
