New Jobs Coming To Waterloo

A com­pany from Que­bec, Canada plans to set up shop in Water­loo and cre­ate up to 85 new jobs by 2018. Techo-Bloc is a man­u­fac­turer of high-end paving stones and patio blocks. The com­pany announced on Mon­day that it plans to invest over $34 mil­lion to estab­lish its Mid­west regional oper­a­tions head­quar­ters in Water­loo. Plans call for the ren­o­va­tion and equip­ping of an exist­ing 44,000-square-foot dry cast and truck shop, and accord­ing to the Indi­ana Eco­nomic Devel­op­ment Com­mis­sion, the com­pany also plans to begin con­struc­tion next spring on a 67,000-square-foot wet cast facil­ity to serve grow­ing demand for the company’s land­scape prod­ucts in the Mid­west and south­ern United States. Techo-Bloc already employs nearly 500 peo­ple in eight man­u­fac­tur­ing facil­i­ties and six dis­tri­b­u­tion cen­ters. They have plans to begin hir­ing at the new plant by the end of the year.
