A company from Quebec, Canada plans to set up shop in Waterloo and create up to 85 new jobs by 2018. Techo-Bloc is a manufacturer of high-end paving stones and patio blocks. The company announced on Monday that it plans to invest over $34 million to establish its Midwest regional operations headquarters in Waterloo. Plans call for the renovation and equipping of an existing 44,000-square-foot dry cast and truck shop, and according to the Indiana Economic Development Commission, the company also plans to begin construction next spring on a 67,000-square-foot wet cast facility to serve growing demand for the company’s landscape products in the Midwest and southern United States. Techo-Bloc already employs nearly 500 people in eight manufacturing facilities and six distribution centers. They have plans to begin hiring at the new plant by the end of the year. Interested applicants may apply online at the company’s website.
