New School Groundbreaking Set

Bryan residents are invited to join Bryan City Schools to celebrate the start of construction on the new middle/high school. The project is the beginning phase of a master plan that will unite all 2,000 students, from preschool through grade 12, on one campus for the first time in the school district’s history. The event is set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 23, at 1350 Fountain Grove Drive, Bryan. The project, which will relocate the entire Bryan City School district to one campus, includes a new, approximately 150,000-square-foot combined middle and high school for grades 6 through 12, renovation of the existing, approximately 120,000-square-foot middle school into a new elementary school for grades Pre-K through 5, and demolition of the existing Bryan High School and Washington and Lincoln

The new campus will be a 21st century learning environment that emphasizes openness, collaboration and project-based learning. The new middle/high School will feature a courtyard for outdoor dining, small group assemblies and classroom instruction. The energy-efficient design will incorporate natural lighting and help reduce utility costs for the schools.
