County commissioners, on advice of legal counsel, have rejected a permit application to install water and discharge lines along a 1.25-mile-long section of County Road S for the AquaBounty salmon farm project. The lines were proposed as a public utility within the right-of-way along the south side of County Road S between County Roads 15 and 16.25, northeast of Pioneer. The application noted it would serve the North Industrial Park, which is undeveloped except for work on the proposed AquaBounty facility. The application by the Village of Pioneer was for two separate lines, a water line and a treatment/discharge line, buried side-by-side in a single covered trench, officials say.
