NORTHWEST RECEIVES GRANT

Northwest State Community College has announced that the school has received a grant for the iSTAR ( or Innovative Strategic Training that Achieves Results) IT Specialist Certificate Program to run until March 31, 2016.

School officials say that although there have been some questions in the past on the grant’s status, it’s still very much active.

School officials say the grant is designed to address long-term unemployment, in some cases helping unemployed workers who had outlived their unemployment benefits and were unable to find jobs that fit their job skills.

The college works with local companies interested in hiring program graduates.
