NSCC Gets Grant

The U.S. Depart­ment of Labor has awarded $2,499,588 to North­west State Com­mu­nity Col­lege to pre­pare unem­ployed Ohioans for advanced man­u­fac­tur­ing careers through online learn­ing tech­nolo­gies.

This pro­gram will serve work­ers in Williams, Defi­ance, Ful­ton, Henry, Lucas, Pauld­ing, and Van Wert Coun­ties who are eli­gi­ble for Trade Adjust­ment Assis­tance that helps work­ers who lost their jobs due to unfair for­eign trade.

Trade Adjust­ment Assis­tance helps work­ers who lose their jobs or have their hours reduced as a result of unfair trade train for new employ­ment. Through the Trade Adjust­ment Assis­tance Com­mu­nity Col­lege and Career Train­ing grant pro­gram, the Depart­ment of Labor awards funds to com­mu­nity col­leges to develop edu­ca­tion and career train­ing pro­grams for eli­gi­ble Trade Adjust­ment Assis­tance work­ers. Qual­i­fied work­ers receive the train­ing required for high-skill, high-wage jobs.
