One of the most historic landmarks in Adams Township in Defiance County will soon be nothing more than a memory. Repair and maintenance just got to be too much for St. Michael’s Catholic School, which first opened back in 1921.
The building closed as a Catholic school in 1978 but has been used for other purposes since then.
Maintaining the building has cost $14,000-$17,000 annually. Now, the boiler needs parts that are difficult to obtain. Bishop Leonard Blair of the Diocese of Toledo approved the demolition request last fall.
