Orchard Hills could be open within the month. And it’s looking as though the course will be open to everyone, as a public course.
Richard Anderson of Montpelier confirmed Thursday that he is the one who purchased the property in last month’s sealed auction for a little over one million dollars.
Anderson’s sealed bid was one of only two which met all requirements.
Anderson told the Bryan Times that he hopes to open the golf course within a few days after the sale is finalized, and that is likely no more than three days away now.
Anderson said the best bet to make Orchard Hills a financial success is to open it for public use.
Anderson told the Times he plans to hire many of the same employees it had prior to its closure.
Buckeye Golf Club Company had owned Orchard Hills since it opened in 1926. The group consented to judgment and foreclosure in January after facing a debt in excess of $3 million.
