Paul A. Shock, 67, of Defiance, Ohio, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022, at the University of Toledo Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio. Paul was born December 31, 1954, in Defiance, Ohio, son of the late Earl and Alice Shock. He attended Defiance High School, and then Ball State University. Paul married Susan R. Sentel on August 21, 1987, in Defiance, and she survives. He worked in the Core Room at the General Motors Powertrain Defiance Foundry for over 27 years, retiring in 2005. He also worked at Zachrich Trucking Company. Paul was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Defiance. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and collected model trains. A more unique hobby of Paul’s, he raised piranhas, and shipped the freshwater fish to buyers throughout the United States.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Susan Shock of Defiance; two daughters, Mikayla (Matthew Munn) Shock of Defiance and Mallory (Logan Hetrick) Shock of Ney, Ohio; four grandchildren, Tate King, Tinley King, Bentley Hetrick, and Brystal Hetrick; one sister, Peggy Shock; three brothers, Fran Shock, Dave (Mary) Shock, and Larry Shock; and his father-in-law, Richard Sentel. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; and his mother-in-law, Nancy Sentel.
In honoring Paul’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services held at this time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan, Ohio 43506.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be directed to the family.
