Paul L. Brown, 81

Paul L. Brown, 81, of Montpelier passed away Thursday evening at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier. He was born on February 16, 1936 in Washington Township, Defiance County to Roy Ward and Dorothy L. (Hagerman) Brown. Paul graduated from Ney High School in 1954. On August 21, 1955, he married Elaine A. Detwiler in West Unity and she survives.

From 1955-1972 Paul owned and operated the family farm in Montpelier. He worked as a car salesman at Stan Pebble Chevrolet in Bryan for 25 years. Paul was a Williams County Commissioner for 12 years. He enjoyed harness racing, loved to travel, camp, and spend time with his family, he was a people person.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elaine; four children, Eddie P. Brown of Bryan, Ricky L. Brown of Montpelier, Kim M. Berry of Bryan, and Connie K. Brown of Edon; three grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and one brother Larry G. (Terry) Brown of Shelby, North Carolina. Paul was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation for Paul will be on Monday, August 28 from 2-7pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. Services will be Tuesday at 11 am at West Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Montpelier with Reverend Tawee Layraman to officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to West Bethesda Presbyterian Church or Evergreen Manor Activity Fund.
