Phyllis A. Ballinger, 88, of Hicksville, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Vancrest of Hicksville, surrounded by her family. Phyllis was born February 7, 1937, in Van Wert, County, Ohio, daughter of the late Russell Ezra and Esther Bernice (Mosier) Miller. She married Floyd A. Ballinger on June 24, 1954, in Hicksville, Ohio and he survives. Phyllis was a diligent worker and worked various jobs. She cleaned the Hicksville Building and Loan, worked at Sechler Pickles, The Pizza Shop, Goldnetz Supermarket, Cline’s Super-Valu and provided childcare as a babysitter. She was affiliated with Cornerstone Church in Hicksville. She previously taught Sunday School for many years and managed the missions funds.  Phyllis enjoyed traveling, collecting Precious Moments, reading the Bible, and canning the produce from the family garden.

Surviving is her husband of 70 years, Floyd Ballinger of Hicksville, Ohio; three children, Sherry (David) Kneubuhler of Harlan, Indiana, Monty (Lisa) Ballinger of Hicksville, Ohio and Dana (Julie) Ballinger of Hicksville, Ohio; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Phillip Miller of Mark Center, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son; three brothers, Eugene, Clayton, and Kenton Miller.

To honor Phyllis’ wishes, there will be no visitation at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Hicksville.
