Plane crash in DeKalb County.

In DeKalb County, a small plane crashes in a field, near the Country Heritage Winery in the 100 Block of County Road 68. Upon speaking with the pilot and sole occupant of the plane, deputies were told that he was trying to land in the field and that the sun was in his eyes. The pilot, identified as Jeffrey Hoffman, of LaOtto ended up hitting a tree on landing causing the plane to hit the ground with the nose. Hoffman sustained a laceration to the face, and a bruised leg and arm. he initially refused treatment at the scene, but he was eventually transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center by family for treatment for his injuries. The FAA and NTSB is investigating.
