The Auburn Board of Public Works and Safety voted on Thursday to suspend two Auburn Police Officers after more than $2,000 in cash was stolen from the police department’s evidence room. Officer Steve Ryan was suspended for 35 days, and officer Steve Vallance got a 30 day suspension. Now, the officers have five days to appeal the suspensions. If they do, another hearing will be held. It all goes back to an investigation that was launched last January, when a woman tried to pick up cash that was evidence in a case and discoverd that it was gone. That investigation lead to the discovery that knives, bullets, and a shotgun were also missing.
