Ragna Olafsdottir Lirot, 58, a devoted and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother succumbed to cancer on Wednesday morning at her home in Pioneer. She was born March 16, 1958 in Keflavik, Iceland to Olafur Hogni Egilsson and Nilsena Larsen. Ragna graduated from Keflavik High School in Iceland. On June 9, 1978 she married Henry Lirot and he survives. Henry and Ragna lived in Iceland for the birth of all their children, then moving and living in Pioneer for the past 24 years.
For the past 15 years Ragna worked at Arcelormittal, formerly Power Laser, in Pioneer. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Pioneer. Ragna was also a member of the Keflavik Sewing club in Iceland.
She is survived by her husband Henry of Pioneer; four children, Brian Thor Lirot and Rebekka Zenith Lirot both of Anchorage, Alaska, Amy Elisabet Lirot of Bryan and Olof Rose Lirot of West Unity; three grandchildren, Zoey and Emma Gillett, and Trevin Lirot; and five siblings, Egil Olafsson, Bjarni Olafsson, Ohli Olafsson, Silla Olafsdottir, and Soli Olafsdottir all of Iceland.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ragna will be buried in Njardvik, Iceland. A memorial service will be held at a later date, in Pioneer. Notes of sympathy can be mailed to Henry at PO Box 775 Pioneer, OH 43554.
