Councilman Randy Mahlman has stepped down from his position as a member of West Unity village council. Mahlman read a short letter of resignation at the end of Thursday’s village council meeting. He cited personal reasons for his departure from council, which is effective immediately. Mahlman served three years on council with one year remaining on his term. Previously he was the village’s administrator for seven years. He has spent the past two years as Edon’s village administrator and plans to continue that job. Mayor Peggy Bernath indicated that village citizens interested in filling the empty position should write a letter of interest to her attention by Jan. 6.
