In a hunting update, Williams County youth checked more deer during the two-day youth gun hunting this year that ran Nov. 16-17, than the three-year average for the county. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources reported Williams County youth checked 111 deer this year, compared to a three-year average of 80. Across the Buckeye state, youth checked 10,449 deer, also more than the three-year average of 9,061. Numbers for nearby counties were: Defiance County, 97; Fulton County, 66; Henry County, 76; Paulding County, 75; Putnam County, 107; and Van Wert County, 60.
