Richard B. Gilcher, 58, of Montpelier passed away Friday morning at Parkview North in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on January 29, 1959 in Bryan to Donald W. and Joann J. (Sidle) Gilcher, Sr. Richard graduated from Hilltop High School in 1977. He was a supervisor at Alex Products, a division of A-Stamp in Ridgeville Corners, Ohio. Richard was a former member of the Montpelier Eagles.
Richard is survived by his father Donald W. Gilcher, Sr., of Montpelier; three sons, Nathan (Beth) Gilcher of Crown City, Ohio, Tyler (Kait) Gilcher of Dayton, Ohio and Adam J. (Rosie Kingston) Gilcher of Dayton; two grandchildren Violet and Cameron Gilcher of Crown City, Ohio; two sisters, Nita Jo Laforet-Lachke and Vivek Lachke of Montpelier and Elva Jo Treace of Montpelier; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Joann Gilcher in 1998, daughter Alesia Gilcher in 1982, brother Donald Gilcher, Jr. in 2015, two brothers-in-law Frederick Laforet and Skip Treace, and one nephew Frederick Laforet, Jr.
Visitation for Richard will be on Tuesday, January 2nd from 2-8pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. Services will be on Wednesday at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Ric Beals to officiate. Interment will follow at Shiffler Cemetery in rural Bryan. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Assistance of Williams County.
