Richard “Dick” Brandeberry, 84

Richard “Dick” Brandeberry, 84, of Montpelier passed away on Monday November 16th at Community Hospitals and Wellness Center in Montpelier.  He was born on January 3, 1931 in Bridgewater Township to Royal Cleo and Mary (Fisher) Brandeberry.

Richard attended Montpelier High School. He honorably served his country in the United States Marines.  On August 29, 1958 he married Shirley M. Apt and she survives.  From 1969-2014 Richard was the owner and operator of J.J.D. Tool Grinding Company in Montpelier.  He also worked for Mohawk Tools in Montpelier and he retired from Aro Corporation in Bryan.

Richard was a lifetime member of the Montpelier Eagles and was a Montpelier Reserve Police Officer.  He was a hardworking man with a big heart that would help anyone in need.

He is survived by his wifeof 57 years, Shirley M. Brandeberry of Montpelier; two daughters, Deborah (Brandeberry) Hale and Susan Lutz both of Montpelier; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and sister, Betty Wheeler of Pioneer.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; son Michael E. Brandeberry; grandson Jeremiah; brother Ralph Brandeberry; and two sisters, Dorothy Meller and Janette Edinger.

Visitation for Richard will be on Wednesday November 18th from 3-8 pm at the Thompson-Geesey Funeral Home on Empire Street in Montpelier. A funeral service will be on Thursday, November 19th at 1:30 pm at the funeral home with Reverend Becky Ploughe to officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery with military honors presented by the Montpelier Veterans.  Memorials may be made in Richard’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
