Richard W. “Cookie” Cook, 83, of Montpelier, passed away on March 17, 2020 at his home. Cookie was born on July 16, 1936 in Wauseon to Wayne B. and Lillian B. (Julliard) Cook. He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1954 where he was a member of the golf team and played drums in the band. On February 14, 1964 he married Deloris “Dee” Clark in Angola, Indiana and she survives.
For 28 ½ years, Cookie operated the Montpelier Shell Station. On July 1, 2000 he retired from Powers and Sons in Montpelier. Cookie loved cars and was very proud of his 1964 Nova and Dee’s 1966 Mustang.
Cookie is survived by his loving wife, Dee Cook; two sons, Jeff (Laura) Cook of Delta and Eric (Lisa) Cook of Montpelier; granddaughters, Amanda Bowser of Delta, Brittany (Brent) Studenka of Lyons, Gabrielle (Beau) Siler of Montpelier, and Alycia (B.J.) Ogden of Bryan; great grandsons, Aivin Bowser, Braden and Brody Studenka, and Holden and Grady Siler; great granddaughters, Zaylee Ogden and Callie Siler; and twin sister, Phyllis Lee of Maumee.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A time to receive friends will take place on Thursday, March 19 from 3 to 8 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier. Cookie will be laid to rest at Shiffler Cemetery in Bryan. Memorial contributions may be given to Heartland Hospice.
