Robert B. Delbecq, 83

Robert B. Delbecq, 83 years of Bowling Green, Ohio, and a former lifelong resident of Hicksville, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022, in Bowling Green. Robert was born August 1, 1939, in Defiance, Ohio, the son of the late Bernard and Anna (Mekus) Delbecq. He was a 1958 graduate of Adams Ridge High School, and continued his education at Defiance College, earning his bachelor’s degree. Robert served our country in the Army Reserve. He married Shirley Lohse on November 28, 1964, at St. Michael’s Ridge Catholic Church, Defiance, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on October 8, 2013. Robert was a Data Processing Manager for the Former Dotco, for 32 years, retiring in 1999. He was a former president of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church Parish Council and Holy Name Society and active on the Parish Finance Committee, a former member of the National Association of Accountants, National Association of Purchasing Managers and the Data Processing Managers Association.  He was also a former member of the Hicksville Rotary Club and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed doing woodworking in his leisure time.

Surviving are his three sons, Mark (Leigh) Delbecq of Sunbury, Ohio, Chad Delbecq of Bowling Green, Ohio and Brian (Sandy) Delbecq of Fresno, California; two grandchildren, Jack Delbecq and Jessica Delbecq; one brother, Harry Delbecq of Rushville, Indiana; one sister, Virginia (Frank) VonSeggren of Defiance, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; one brother, Louie Delbecq; two sisters, Kathryn Steffan and Mary Ann Beck.

Visitation for Robert B. Delbecq will be held Monday, October 3, 2022, beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jack Teeple officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that those planning an expression of sympathy make donations to the Hicksville Crippled Children’s and Adult’s Society.
