Robert E. Peters, 83

Robert E. Peters, 83 years of Defiance, went home to be with is Lord and Savior on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance, Ohio. Robert was born March 21, 1939, in Defiance, Ohio, the son of the late Ronald and Letha (Kuhn) Peters. Robert graduated from Ayersville High School in 1957. He first married Roberta Stevens, until she passed. He then married Lois (Moore) Sliter on December 23, 1972, and she survives. A lifelong farmer, Robert was employed by Dinner Bell Foods, working in Night Shipping and as a Truck Driver. Robert was an active member of Sherwood United Methodist Church, where he fellowshipped with the Men’s Group, sang in the church choir, and participated in the Events Committee and the Administrative Board. He was also a member of the Northwesternaires Barbershop Singers. He enjoyed gardening – amazed at watching things grow, woodworking, farming and camping and being outdoors.

Surviving is his wife, Lois of Defiance; five children, Randal Peters of Payne, Ohio, Randy (Sarah) Sliter of Montpelier, Ohio, Kimberly Hawkins of Toledo, Ohio Scott (Randi) Sliter of Hicksville, Ohio, and Laurie (William) Flanary II, of Defiance, Ohio; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Roberta; infant daughter: Pamela; one brother, Richard Peters.

Funeral services for Robert E. Peters will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2022, in the Sherwood United Methodist Church, 512 North Harrison Street, Sherwood with Pastor Boyd Shugert officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends in the Sherwood United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall on Thursday, June 2, 2022, from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance, Ohio. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood, Ohio. Florist, please deliver your flowers directly to the church between 10:00 – 1:00 p.m. Thursday.
