Robert Hemrick, 99, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Monday, March 13, 2023, in his residence with his family by his side. Bob was born March 7, 1924, in Antwerp, Ohio, son of the late Arthur and Pauline (Keener) Hemrick. He was a 1942 graduate of Antwerp High School. Bob married Reah I. Kimpel on February 8, 1947, and they enjoyed 41 years together and raised four girls, until her passing on October 30, 1988. He then married Norma Jean Rohrs on January 1, 1996, and she preceded him in death on April 29, 2018. Bob was a lifelong farmer, working his family farm, and retiring in 2006. He also worked as a laborer at Fifty Corporation in Bryan, Ohio, for 29 years. Bob was a devoted member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hicksville, where he served as an usher and on the Stewardship & Christian Education Committee. He also volunteered as a driver for Meals on Wheels and the Antwerp Community Band, and was a member of the Hicksville Eagles Aerie #2556. In his free time, Bob enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, watching sports and traveling.
Bob is survived by his seven children, Marlene (Terry) Sparks of Hicksville, Marilyn (Max) Zuber of Antwerp, Ohio, Sandra (Tom) Deady of Hicksville, Sharon (Terry) Colley of Hicksville, Michael (Nancy) Mickelson of Stryker, Ohio, Jon (Lori) Mickelson of Hicksville, and Linda (Les) Yoder of Spencerville, Indiana; 17 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Reah, and second wife, Norma Jean; and one brother, Austin “Richard” Hemrick.
Visitation for Robert Hemrick will be held Friday, March 17, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at St. John Lutheran Church, 812 East High Street, Hicksville, Ohio 43526. Funeral services for Bob will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the church with Minister Alex Heffelfinger officiating. There will be an additional hour of visitation on Saturday prior to the start of the funeral. Interment will follow in Scipio Cemetery, Harlan, Indiana. Arrangements have been entrusted to Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville.
