Roger W. Ellis, 85

Roger W. Ellis, age 85, recently of Monclova, Ohio, and formerly a long time resident of Bryan, Ohio, died at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, Ohio, after a brief illness. Mr. Ellis was a 1950 graduate of Bryan High School and received the FFA State Farmer Degree. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War with the 23rd Bomb Squadron. In 1956, he graduated from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Illinois, and was owner and operator of Ellis Electric for twenty -nine years, as well as farming on the family farm. Roger was a member of Bryan First Church of Christ, Bryan VFW Post #2489, where he was a Life member, and was a former member of Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233, Moose Lodge #1004, Kiwanis and the Bryan Jaycees, where he was once awarded the “Boss of the Year.”

Roger W. Ellis was born on February 18, 1932, near Stryker, Ohio, the son of Roland E. and Harriett M. (Rotsel) Ellis. He married Donna Jean Stantz on May 19, 1957, in Bryan and she preceded him in death on November 20, 2011.

Survivors include two sons, who are both Toledo firefighters, Ronald (Susan) Ellis, of Perrysburg, and Craig (Kim) Ellis, of Whitehouse, Ohio; three granddaughters, Jennifer (Eric) Trobaugh and Alivia and Grace Ellis; two grandsons, Tyler and Joshua Ellis; one great-grandson, Jaiden Trobaugh; and one great-granddaughter, Dahlia Trobaugh. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Robert Ellis; and three sisters, Jean Kaiser, Bonnie McNell and Betty Smith.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018, from 3:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Larry Snavely officiating, followed by military rites conducted by Bryan VFW Post #2489 and the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Private interment will take place in Shiffler Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials are requested to Bryan First Church of Christ, Toledo Firefighters Museum, Whitehouse Fire Company or a local fire department of choice.
