Sanity plea entered by Montpelier man accused of assault on police officers

A Montpelier man accused of trying to disarm a Napoleon Police officer and harming a Henry County Sheriff’s deputy was recently arraigned in Henry County Common Pleas Court and has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. 36 year old Benjamin D. Hill was arraigned on one count of aggravated robbery and one count of assault of a peace officer. Hill’s attorney filed a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity and sought a motion to determine competency to stand trial. Hill was referred to the Court Diagnostic And Treatment Center in Toledo for an evaluation to determine his competency to stand trial and for a mental evaluation. Bond was set at $250,000. A pretrial hearing will be scheduled once the report from the treatment center is received.
