Sex Offender Caught

Just one day after the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department asked the public to help them track down a registered sex offender, an arrest has been made in the case.

26 year old Corey Witsman was convicted in July of sexual misconduct with a minor but was not registered as a sex offender as required as a result of his conviction.

On Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies and the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Witsman at a home in northern Steuben County.

He was booked at the county jail on one count of a probation violation and two felony counts of failure to register as a sex or violent offender, and is being held without bail.
