A man who entered a guilty plea for not registering of a sex or violent offender was sentenced to two years in prison on Monday in Steuben Circuit Court. 35-year-old Lawrence Troup was arrested in February, when the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department determined that he was not living at his registered address and that he failed to report information to them within the lawful time frame. Troup claimed it was all just an honest mistake. In the end, he was given credit for four days already served in jail, but no credit for the “honest mistake”.
