Defiance County officials appear to have found a firm to assume control of the former SK Hand Tool property and at least clean up the dilapidated site. Michael Heitz of the firm Garrett, LLC, recently met with county officials to discuss last-minute details concerning the tax lien his company plans to purchase from the county for the property, located just outside the Defiance city limits on Hickory Street in Richland Township. The foreclosure is based on delinquent property taxes, which total approximately $147,000. However, the tax lien sale will allow Garrett to forgo those taxes.
