After years of declining subscription rates and ever-climbing programming costs and other expenses, Bryan Municipal Utilities is cutting the cord on its cable TV service. The Bryan Board of Public Affairs voted 4-0, during their meeting on Tuesday to end it, effective May 31. BMU officials say…a drastically heightened proposed rate would help BMU recoup the costs it pays just to carry cable programming, which have climbed about 116% in the past seven years. Even then, the utility would still face pricey and necessary infrastructural upgrades. So, like many places nowadays…the cable is cut.
