State board to consider building code violations of “eyesore”

Defiance’s biggest eyesore, a former residential home turned commercial is the topic of discussion for the state board later this month. The buildings owners have been cited for not complying with state building code requirements. The state could order the deficient building torn down. City officials don’t necessarily want that, but they do want the property on Deatrick Street cleaned up and brought up to code. The hearing is in suburban Columbus on May 23rd.
