SUMMER COOLING ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE

The North­west­ern Ohio Com­mu­nity Action Com­mis­sion will be accept­ing appli­ca­tions for the HEAP Sum­mer Cool­ing pro­gram start­ing July 1, and con­tin­u­ing through August 31.

Assis­tance with a pay­ment of an elec­tric bill and/or dis­tri­b­u­tion of a free air con­di­tioner will be pro­vided.

To qual­ify, a per­son must be within 175 per­cent of the Fed­eral Poverty guide­lines; be 60 years of age or older; or have a med­ical con­di­tion that would ben­e­fit from the pro­gram doc­u­mented by a physi­cian or nurse prac­ti­tioner.

Those inter­ested should con­tact the local North­west­ern Ohio Com­mu­nity Action Com­mis­sion com­mu­nity ser­vice office for more details or to sched­ule an appoint­ment. Income for the past 90 days, elec­tric and gas bills, Social Secu­rity cards for every­one in the house­hold, and dis­abil­ity proof (if applic­a­ble) are required for every appointment.
