Sylvania residents could vote on a new school levy this year.

Sylvania residents could vote on a new school levy this year. The school district says the proposed 7.9 mills levy is needed for current expenses. If approved, it would generate around $18 million per year. The levy would cost the owner of a $100,000 home an extra $277 per year. The school board is set to meet Tuesday night to discuss whether to approve sending the levy to voters. If members sign off, the levy would appear on the May 5 ballot.
