Thomas A. “Tom” Spencer, age 92, of Archbold, Ohio, passed away Friday morning, March 03, 2017 in Fairlawn Haven, Archbold, Ohio. He was born February 21, 1925 in Napoleon, Ohio, the son of the late John H. and Alice (Finks) Spencer. He married Dorothy Koppenhofer November 16, 1952 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Napoleon, Ohio and she survives. Tom graduated from Napoleon High School in 1943, joining the U.S. Navy a month later, and he was discharged in 1946. He attended the Indiana Technical College under the GI Bill, graduating in 1949 and then 18 months at Ohio State University, graduating with a Electrical Engineering Degree. After graduation he worked with the Insurance Services Office. He remained there for 34 years, retiring in 1984.
Tom enjoyed golf and amateur radio, plus spending time with family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gerald Spencer, and a infant daughter, Deborah.
Surviving besides his wife, Dorothy, are two sons, John (Cathy) Spencer, Waterville, Ohio, and Steven Spencer, Pikesville, MD. Grandchildren, Angela (Matthew) Collins, Waterville Ohio, Corinna ( Torri Craig) Spencer, Whitehouse, Ohio, Michael (Stephanie ) Spencer, Bowling Green Ohio, Step-grandsons, Jason (Dani) Toelle and Kevin Toelle. 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 07, 2017, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Shoop Avenue, Wauseon, Ohio. Rev. Julie Parsell officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Napoleon, Ohio. Graveside military honors will be accorded by Fulton County Honor Guard. Funeral luncheon will follow the interment services in Trinity Lutheran Church, Wauseon, Ohio. Friends may call for time of visitation with family 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday in Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, Fulton Street, Wauseon, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Wauseon, Ohio.
