TOURISM SHOWS RISE STATEWIDE AND LOCALLY

Accord­ing to the Ohio Depart­ment of Development’s fis­cal year 2012 report, Ohio’s tourism grew to $40 bil­lion in sales in 2012. The trend holds true in North­west Ohio as well. Local tourism is up, and thou­sands vis­ited our area in 2012.

Reports from the Defi­ance income tax office indi­cate there was a $29,000 increase in the hotel/motel tax from 2011 to 2012.

Ful­ton County Vis­its are also up, with large groups report­edly vis­it­ing places such as Sauder Vil­lage and Her­itage Inn.

Henry County also has seen an increase in tourist vis­its, as has Williams County.
