Truck driver killed by shifting load

A Pennsylvania truck driver was killed Friday after steel beams he was hauling came loose from his flatbed trailer and crashed through the cab of his semi. It happened on US 20 in front of the Loves Truck Stop just west of I 69 after 6 am. Initial reports indicate the truck driver 44 year old Shawn Spencer of Rome Pennsylvania slammed on his breaks causing his load to break free and crash into the back of the cab. The highway had to be shut down for more than five hours to allow for clean up and removal of parts of the load that spilled onto US 20. Spencer was pronounced dead at the scene the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
