Trying To Keep A Level Playing Field

Ohio’s senators are pushing bipartisan legislation…aimed at helping American manufacturers remain competitive against what they call unfair competition from other countries, namely China. The legislation recently passed in the House of Representatives…as part of the America COMPETES Act of 2022. The Senate passed its version, the U.S. Innovation and Competition Act, last summer. Sens. Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman introduced the bill in April. They say it will strengthen U.S. trade remedy laws and ensure they remain effective tools to fight unfair trade practices, while protecting American workers by establishing a new concept, “successive investigations,” to improve the nation’s trade remedy system.
