Ohio Turnpike tolls could be increasing by 25 cents for cars and $1 for trucks for a cross-state trip next year according to a new 10-year toll plan proposed Monday by the turnpike commission.
Tolls in fact, could rise 2.7% a year over the next decade, to help pay for $1.5 billion in bonds the turnpike wants to issue for badly needed construction projects.
For motorists driving across the turnpike with E-ZPass, tolls would rise 25 cents to $11.50 starting in January. After 10 years, the rate would be $14.75. The cross-state toll for truckers using E-ZPass would rise by $1 to $36 next year. After a decade, the toll would be $45.75.
