TURNPIKE TOLLS COULD BE RISING

Ohio Turn­pike tolls could be increas­ing by 25 cents for cars and $1 for trucks for a cross-state trip next year accord­ing to a new 10-year toll plan pro­posed Mon­day by the turn­pike com­mis­sion.

Tolls in fact, could rise 2.7% a year over the next decade, to help pay for $1.5 bil­lion in bonds the turn­pike wants to issue for badly needed con­struc­tion projects.

For motorists dri­ving across the turn­pike with E-ZPass, tolls would rise 25 cents to $11.50 start­ing in Jan­u­ary. After 10 years, the rate would be $14.75. The cross-state toll for truck­ers using E-ZPass would rise by $1 to $36 next year. After a decade, the toll would be $45.75.
