TWO TRUCKS INVOLVED IN FATALITY

A crash early Tuesday morning involving two semis and resulting in the death of one of the drivers is under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Police say a 2007 Volvo semi, operated by a man from Ontario, Canada was parked on the right shoulder of the westbound lanes of U.S. 24 in Paulding County when a 2006 Freightliner semi hit it.

The impact caused the fuel tank of the Freightliner to rupture and both vehicles ignited. The Canadian driver was outside of his vehicle at the time of the crash and was only slightly injured.

The driver of the Freightliner, 53 year old Andrew Nowacki, also of Ontario, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Westbound lanes of U.S. 24 traffic remained closed until approximately 1:30 yesterday afternoon.
