Unemployment rates in six area counties for April.

Unemployment rates in six area counties ranged from 2.6%-3.4% in April, according to the latest figures from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Three of the six (Putnam, Paulding and Defiance) were below 3% while Henry, Williams and Fulton weren’t far behind, and were each less than 3.5%. Local unemployment rates in April with January and December figures: Defiance, 2.9%, (4.5%) (3.9%); Fulton, 3.4% (5.7%) (5.1%); Henry, 3.3% (6.2%) (5.2%); Paulding, 2.7% (4.3%) (3.8%); Putnam, 2.6% (4.1%) (3.4%); and Williams, 3.3% (4.8%) (4.6%).
Holmes County in eastern Ohio had the state’s lowest rate in April at 2% followed by Mercer County in west central Ohio at 2.1%.
