Victor Collie, 97

Victor R. Collie, 97, of Montpelier passed away Monday morning at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier. He was born on January 21, 1917 in Bridgewater Township to Emerson and Bertha A. (Johnston) Collie. Victor served his country in the Army Medical Corp. during World War II. On July 13, 1952 he married Ruth D. Hawkins and she preceded him in death on October 3, 2008.

After more than 24 years of service Vic retired from Powers and Sons in 1982 as an inspection foreman. Prior to working at Powers and Sons he drove truck for himself and for other companies.

Vic is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Rick) Hake of Edon and LuAnn (Kenneth) Entrikin, Sr. of Montpelier; one son Michael (Barbara) Fogel of Edon; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, his parents, one son Ronald Fogel, one brother J. Raymond Collie and one sister Esteleen Faber.

Visitation for Vic will be on Wednesday July 2nd from 4-8pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. Services will be on Thursday at 2pm at the funeral home with Pastor Sam Hoffman to officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery with graveside rites provided by the Montpelier Veterans. Donations may be made to the Williams County Veterans Memorial Building or to Cancer Assistance of Williams County.
