Viola Irene Woolace, 100

Viola Irene Woolace, 100 years old, of West Unity passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, Defiance. Viola was born April 14, 1916 in Dupont, Ohio, the daughter of the late, George W. and Eula B. (Elser) King. She was a 1934 graduate of West Unity High School. Viola married Leo Donald Woolace on November 27, 1938 in Bryan, Ohio and he preceded her in death on September 17, 1990. She was a loving wife and mother, caring for her family and taking care of the home. Viola also worked at Holibird Corporation and Bly Auction and Reality. She was a member of West Unity Presbyterian Church and a 70-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 248. Viola also was a member of the Bridge Club of Williams County. She was an avid basketball fan and often attended Ohio high school state basketball tournaments. Viola and Leo enjoyed wintering in Tampa, Florida and she continued traveling to Florida to the Silver Dollar Trap and Golf Club until 2007. She then relocated to the assisted living at Hillside Country Living. Viola enjoyed traveling to Alaska to visit her son and participate in numerous outdoor activities.

Surviving is her son, James (Marilyn) Woolace of North Pole, Alaska; two grandchildren, James (Lesa) Woolace Jr., of Seattle, Washington and Marilee Woolace of San Miguel, Mexico; four great-grandchildren, Brady (Emily) James-Woolace, Easton Woolace, Sophie Woolace, and Audrey Woolace and many nieces and nephews. Viola was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Laurence “Coty” King, George Roland King, and John Clifford King; three sisters, Blanche Eyer, Dortha “Dot” Bailey, and Betty Jean Bishop.

Visitation for Viola Irene Woolace will be held Friday, September 23, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity. Funeral Services for Viola will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at West Unity Presbyterian Church, 201 East North Street, West Unity, with Rev. Tom Steensma officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity.
